“The great leveler” by Sofia Kioroglou
No shock, no engulfment…
Just the natural corollary to physical birth.
Death is standing on your porch screaming out
and beckoning you to come downstairs.
Unbudgeable and unbribeable.
The eternal, unbiased judge
is holding the Book of Life,
Your name no longer written in it.
The great leveller not paid for favors
is riding triumphantly his chariot
The dead, the great and small
now standing before the Throne.
That is like Thunder and the message of reckoning. It’s a scary thought not to have one’s name in the Book of Life.

Yes it is! We must always bear in mind that the our present time is seed time; in the other world we shall reap as we sow now.Have a blessed week my friend and be blessed

Yes, indeed…we will all answer for what we have done and left undone. Gorgeous use of personification

Thank you so much Thomas! It is a powerful piece of writing. I use my words as a constant reminder not to stray from the path of goodness (not always succesful)

You are welcome, Sofia. None of us are perfect and straying from the path is bound to happen a few times between life and death 🙂

Kalimera Kyria Sofia! (I apologise, I have very little Greek.) Hi, thank you so much for following my blog recently. Great feel to this poem and a far healthier perspective on Death. 😉
